Makeup after microblading

Makeup after microblading

There’s no hard and fast answer for this one: it’s going to vary person to person. “Oily skin may fade faster than dry skin due to the fact that oily skin has a faster rate of skin cell turnover and higher moisture production,” Otsuji explains. “On average, brow tattoos can last anywhere from one to five years with regular maintenance.”  Microblading and makeup After the initial treatment and the touch up appointment, the range of how long microblading lasts is one to three years before they’re completely faded. “Results last depending on skin type, lifestyle, and products you use and how fast your skin metabolizes that pigment,” Aava says. Rowson and Randall encourage clients to come in once a year for a faded annual touch up.

Makeup on microbladed brows

When the opportunity to try microblading at Studio Sashiko’s new Los Angeles location came up, I was honestly a bit hesitant. Images of boxy, cartoon-like arches quickly arose, making me want to reach for my trusty brow pencils and never let go. But a quick review of the studio’s and Otsuji’s Instagram accounts made me rethink my hasty reaction — the before-and-after images I saw were truly remarkable. The microbladed brows looked miraculously natural. I found myself pouring over the images for a solid hour, taking screenshots of the ones I wanted mimicked on my own pathetic little arches. I booked an appointment with Otsuiji immediately. Microblading vs. Microfeathering If microblading is too much of a commitment (be it the time, money, or permanence) or simply doesn’t sound right for you, there are a few other options to consider that will still give your eyebrows a makeover. Eyebrow microshading, for example, is another cosmetic tattoo that gives a powdered or ombré appearance, according to Olson. It resembles the look of eyebrow makeup as opposed to natural hair strokes. It does however still last for years. For a shorter term commitment, eyebrow tinting might be the way to go. It lasts around a month and helps define, shape, and darken the brows.

What not to do

To prevent water from splashing onto the brows after microblading, a person should wash their face gently using a damp sponge or washcloth. After a week or so, I noticed my brows starting to flake and itch. This, Otsuji explained, is the natural exfoliation process involved in healing. It’s crucial to avoid picking or scratching the area as you risk changing the look of your brows. This is also when the initial rich pigment seen in those first post-session days starts to lighten. The brows will start to look softer and even get patchy. This is OK. It’s part of the healing process and will continue for the next week or two before filling out again. Patience is key here as Otsuji explains that the entire healing process can take up to 6-8 weeks. Metamorphosis Microblading Review - Taylor Aube A few weeks after the initial microblading appointment, your brows will finally be safe from water. You can continue your normal skincare and makeup routines. The eyebrows will likely still look a little light, but they will get darker and more natural as they near the end of the healing process.
